I dont mind either. If done professionally then it will be geat no matter who dubs it. Now about america or any other country making anime then i would love to see that. I dont consider anime to be a Japan only thing. If anime is going to be done in american then it should be on the person own experences rather than japan (example american anime should be talking about passing the sat or psat rather than mock test)

i don't mean to offend you, but spongebob squarepants sucks ass, and the only thing i like about the show is that all the townspeople make fun of bob becuase he is gay..he really is gay, i've seen the evidence. in the beginnning, he plays his nose as a flute...ever heard the saying, "play the skin flute" aka "oral sex"?

i consider ANIME to be japanese, but ANIMATION is for everything, and i classify anime to be a kind of animation....american cartoons aren't cool enough to get a certain type of animation title like anime :wink:

and you're the exact type of person that tries to keep anime as a in the closet sort of thing. why does anime only have to come from japan :?: Thats like saying that only good movies come from america. I mean if you look at the music in some animes they seem to have a since of american style *looks and cowboy bebop* and some take directly from a looney toons at times *looks at Excel Saga*. Come on man :!: The way I see it anime is an ART STYLE :!: not as somthing that is japan only. If cartoon network or whatever wanted to do a quality anime series that ONLY lasted 26 eps. they probally do a good job. The problem is that people like you wouldn't give it a chance.

Things such as music and such are not just related to one area anymore but that is MUSIC, and actually a lot of movies are starting to be made in australia/new zealand because its dirt cheap there. BUT ANIME IS ANIME, and only ANIME comes from JAPAN. If they were to make an "anime" here it wouldnt be the same quality because the animators over there are far more into it then we will ever be on this side of the world. Anime over there is the equivalent of films in the US, its taken VERY seriously and thats why they produce so many works of art there. If a company on this side even tried to do pull off an american anime, there wouldnt be as much passion/soul/effort put into it as it were there. Even the voice actors are far more into it over there, thats why i alwasy watch subs... the dub couter-parts simply cant match their enthusiasm.... THAT IS WHY ANIME WILL ALWAYS BE ASSOCIATED WITH THE JAPANESE BECAUSE THEY DO IT RIGHT THERE>... and why change a good thing?

In that case you probally think that live movies and tv shows are crappy in japan because there are not as good or taken seriously.

hate any attempt on amreica, or people for that matter, to try and watch more anime, cause its "cool to them". I cant stand it, Ever since Cowboy Bebop (CB) came out, you have all these people suddenly around who haven't seen anything other than the animes on Cartoon Networks and they're all like "Ya I'm an Otaku" it pisses my off. This is why I hate CB, just for what ti did though, its a great anime. This is also why i hate Cartoon Network, and anything they show, and I hate it when they show a new anime, that encroches on what the People i mentioned before (neo-Otakus as i call them) Learn about anime, there for making the original Otakus have less ans less anime that people aren't all like "hey, i know that,..." and they lead on to some stupid rambling that isn't even really the meaning of the anime itself, its just them making an idiot out fo themselvs, and making the anime look worse

There are alot of good american cartoons... Simpsons, Family guy, South park etc. But japanese anime is way better.

heheheh, you guys are forgetting some of the greatest english anime ever...... Spaceghost and Sealab 2021....those are absolutely hysTERICAL!!!

I dont care much for english action/adventure anime....it tends to blow chunks......the lines are too cheesy...and so are the fights.....i mean, lemme put it this way, I liked X-Men, Spiderman and Superman...and THEN....I discovered REAL anime....like Naruto, Berserk, Trigun, Evangelion, Gundam (mostly the movies), Akira, Bebop....the list goes on and on....they just own english stuff sooooooo so much.

Okay the way you guys are wording it is like saying is english animation is any good. I like some american shows but i wish that english animation take a higher quality in thier work. i mean that for too long english (especially american animation) is always taken to childern. I almost like if there going to make a american show they automatically start making it aimed for the 5-12 yrs. olds. It's starting to become sickening. If they want they could make a regular season, 26 eps. long good quality animation which can be good as any anime out there. It's just that either
1. Thier afraid that showing a animation like that would be too controversial or
2. They don't think they could make any money out of it. Theres also a
3. If they try to make it like that. Haters (and you know who you are) will just bomb it even if they haven't seen it just because they think it's ripping off somthing or just to hate aginst it. I think (if done right) would enjoy a english anime that was drawn in good quality and had a deep story. I am just waiting when either me or someone else will take the step foward and actually make it or tell these bastards what we truly want.

I don't think there should ever be serious english cartoons because we tend to make everything into a soap opera. Do you guys remember The Maxx from way back when? It used to be a comic book, then MTV turned it into one of those late night cartoons (I.E. Beavis and Butt-head, Ren and Stimpy, The Head... etc.) and it ended up being an animated soap opera.

anime is the word for animation in Japanese...but here's somethin interesting...it's spelled in katakana :shock: *gasp* I figured out that it comes from the french word for animation. Although, I do agree, that people assosiate 'anime' with Japan because it's their style. American's can try to duplicate the style...but, they'll put in their own style as well, not just the Japanese, making it animation. It's not BAD, (I like lots of american cartoons like justice league and teen titans lol) It's just different...

The main problem that i have with american animation is that when the show is picthed to a network its usally for as long as they can milk it. So if they can make ten seasons before it starts to lose popularity then they will make it. I just wish for once that they will just make one season of something and move on no matter how popular it gets.

hrm since Anime means animation in Japanese all cartoons would fit into this catagory. Though because anime is almost always used in referrence to Japanese cartoons, people associated as anime -just- referring to Japanese style of cartoons. Yes, American cartoons are mainly marketed for kids and milked for all its worth but thank God theres Adult swim, right? Justice league is pretty darn good for being American and so is Samuarai Jack (if you want to get into the dramatic side of american animation).

It kinda irks me that as soon as someone gets into Anime (referring to the japanese kind here) that they automatically forget about the decent American cartoons and start calling it crap and all sorts of names, blah. I mean really, are you THAT much of a purist that you have to hate it even if the Anime is decently dubbed? Trigun, Inuyasha, Yu Yu Hakasho Gundam Wing (Milliardo's voice is soooo sexy X_X..but I digress my fangirlness) and a couple few more animes are REALLY well dubbed and these days hardly anything, if anything at all is getting edited out. Heck and some of original voices in animes I don't like. It took me a long while to get used to the original whiny and annoying voice of Inuyasha(I prefer his dubbed vocie). Slowly but surely Anime is getting mainstream and the mainstream companies are getting better at giving what the fans want.

So why get so uptight about it? Its still going to be get more popular and more popular. You can still more than likely get the original versions of whatever anime you want.
