Personally, I'm glad he dies. Sasuke tried so hard and he didn't even notice. *sigh*

I really despised Sasuke when he left the village, but these flashbacks are really making me want to forgive the little jackass... Which is probably the point. >_> Anyway, anybody with me on the forgive Sasuke front? (I mean, unless he kills Naruto or something... XP)

YAY FOR CHAP. 224 AND THE END OF THE FLASHBACKS!

No, I think you have it all wrong. I mean, look at what his father made sasuke do? Sasuke couldn't do the Katon Technique first try. I mean he did it, but not that well. Just by saying "Your not itachi" he made sasuke work twice as hard until HE figured it out on his own.

In the same sense he also told Sasuke that he recognized him as his son, and NOT to follow itachi's path. If his father didn't care about sasuke he wouldn't have told him that. He would've continued to ignore him.

Sometimes tough love helps.

how exactly is it good parenting to constantly compare itachi to sasuke all the time?

Thepimplishone

comparing him to itachi would help him a ton more as opposed to comparing him to a dropout..

Why does his dad have to compare him to anyone? Can't he just talk to the kid like a regular parent, and realize that Sasuke is his own person, and not a copy of someone else?

Poor Sasuke. His dad has good intentions, but the way he talks to him, always comparing him to someone else, implying that everything he does has to be better than everyone else, always being disappointed and ignoring him when anything doesn't work out... that would depress me a bit.

its depressing, but one of the reoccuring themes in this anime is working hard to so people will take notice. Infact, almost every character has gone through this. Sakura, Naruto, Rock Lee. Its only right that the other main character, Sasuke, has to go through this phase at some point.

I'm really guess Kishimoto(thats the name right? I hope so, or I feel stupid) didn't have many friends growing up. this whole working to get noticed, loneliness theme really makes me think that.

I didnt think Sasuke's dad was that bad..some parents are just strict like that..and especially since he's like the head of the police dept. I dont think Itachi's reason to kill off his whole clan was very..good..but I guess the story isnt over yet..It'll explain more :? I thought it was pretty messed up that Sasuke finally got his dad to notice him and then Itachi goes and kills everyone
Annnd I think Sasuke is just going through the 'the main character is going to turn bad but one day his friends are going to make him realise what a big biatch he's being and return to the leaf'

Ok, I understand the point about being strict, but if a good father wanted his son to become good at what he does, then he would do something like encouraging his son. The only thing Sasuke wanted from his father is a compliment or at least some type of recognition. The way it looked, Sasuke probably wouldl've killed himself just to please his father and that dude wouldn't have cared.

I think I just got a whole new understanding of Itachi.

i doubt sasuke would be as good as he is without the little push from his father...

I don't doubt that, but i think sasuke and his brother wouldl've been better off without theirfather treating them like dirt.

I agree with you.

Besides...

I think their happiness in life is more important than sheer power. And they would be strong anyway, with the Uchiha bloodline power in them. And Itachi, if he were a genius, would be great even if he was pressured or not, it's inevitable for a genius to reach greatness, no matter what route they take (usually).

Well it seems like everyone goes through that kind of shit in the anime..I thought their dad was an ass at first but after reading on I didnt think he was that bad. Hey...a strict father is better than no father right? I BLAME ITACHI :(

His dad wasn't that bad.........He was bad enought for Itachi to kil him!! and everybody else. Well, so what if itachi was a little coocoo, sasuke's cool.

actually i think his dad is making sure that sasuke doesnt turn out like itachi. His dad needs to concentrate on itachi because him and the council KNOWS itachi is trouble. Still dad acts kinda hard on Sasuke.

Whatever that meant. XD

Wow, I made conversation. So proud.

I still think the guy's an ass. He shouldn'tve ignored his kid. It dosen't matter how strong he wants him to be. I mean, how old is Sasuke in this? Seven? Eight? He's still a kid for christ sake!

This whole manga really bugs me from time to time when I think of how old these kids are. Lee and Neji are just about the oldest, an they're only 13!! I know they're ninjas and all, but really. That's sick. >_>

I see what you mean...

They are really young, to go through so much heartache and trouble.

But.... that is the lifestyle they chose. The dream of being a ninja, seems to be one that will always make you grow up sooner than any other child... it forces you into the adult world suddenly. I think of the example of Lee... he knew the hardships he'd face, but he knew that going through them (for him, in either case) was the only way he could grow up to be a great ninja. He had to accept it.. and he did so with pride and determination in himself.

Altho in Sasuke's situation, I don't think he had much of a choice abou the whole "ninja" thing...
Growing up in a household like that, if he hadn't of been a ninja like his brother, his father would've treated him even worse..... he wouldn't respect him, or he'd ignore him even more than he already did...
Poor little Sasuke just can't win :(

I agree about Hinita. Hisashi just gave up and threw her away like trash and turned all his attention to Hanabi.

Edit: Just bad spelling. I remembered

Well, either way, I still can't forgive Sasuke for anything. I still hate him. :P But I have to say, as annoying as they were, those flashbacks did help. :/ I'm just glad they're done with. XD I can't wait for the Sasuke vs. Naruto bit! :o
