Pretty good and Okay episode for anime- only viewers. i liked it.

Though- probably another slow drag especially for those who have read the manga; and i expect more will be even agitated about this speed.

For those who may want to know why some manga readers complain- as at now--8 manga chapters have been animated into 9 episodes.

the animation in this release was quite amazing. possibly the best since i've seen since they started.

the speed is moving along just nicely. we are seeing the abililties of 2 akatsuki members and sand ninja. its nice to see something else other than konoha and naruto.

Sasori - Kankurou was amazing, too short though.

Wow you are the same as me. I think the naruto series is also not the same. I think it is because of a different story, different animation, and also they have slowed it down so much. I liked the animation and story before to. Naruto was the best 10. Now I give it a 8.5:p

Then again Bleach is in the middle of some awesome fights right now and Naruto is start off a new arc (pretty slowly). I imagine Naruto will pick up soon. Hell it took 15 or so episodes for Naruto to start getting good from the start. It'll take some time :P

Even though the episode was skimp on fighting, I found it rather emotional. That part in the forest when Naruto had tears in his eyes and was talking about saving Gaara was simply beautiful! I swear, his sheer determination is absolutely stirring, and very inspirational - and this episode reminded me of that.

We wont be seeing any fights soon. To early in the session. Its gunna be alot of information episodes first. And if you cant wait 2 weeks then try and forget about naruto and have a reminder at last second.

This episode was good, we got to see how bad ass Sasori is, we got to see Kank without his makeup on! (which until now i thought was a tatoo :p) and we even got it confirmed that Akatsuki(hope that spelled right) captured Gaara to take out his Shikaku(hope that is spelled correctly)

All in all, a fantastic episode.

YES! We found out that sasori is from the hidden village of sand in 40minutes! Wow what a really great episode that was. I was very excited I "blew" it while watching.

1) animation

After a year of fillers youd think theyd make the animation alot better now, but they didnt.

2) Script

Scirpt is very important.. nuff said.

3) Their fight iq somehow decreased.

I don't remember Sakura learning anything about Itachi before Naruto left. Sasuke went into the hospital, woke up, fought the sound dorks, then left with them. i really cant judge the animation, cause i watched it on youtube, but it looked better than pre-shippuden episodes, even on youtube.
as harsh as this seems, i still thought the episode was okay, even for manga readers.

like you and hiyo said, the part with the poison dumb. ok. but animation was good, i mean if you compare that animation to that random segment of sasuke vs. oro during the chuunin exams, it was just horrible. that was the old animation.

also, not everyone else knew about akatsuki. actually it seemed very few did because jiraiya whispered it to tsunade. and to sakura stating all that, it did make sense in the way she ordered it because sasuke is primary, oro is the immediate threat and then itachi can come into the picture.

and naruto being shocked, it wasn't at the akatsuki, it was that sakura KNEW everything. hence why she said, i had access to all of tsunade's library...do you get the hint?

also how would she know how they are dressed, only asuma, kuranai, gai, kakashi and jiraiya at that point have actually seen what akatsuki look like. Tsunade only knew because of what Jiraiya told her.

I will repeat my reasons why I hate this episode.

1) animation

After a year of fillers youd think theyd make the animation alot better now, but they didnt.

2) Script

Scirpt is very important.. nuff said.

Pros: - Kankouro's fight was really good. We got to see him pull out all the stops. Even though it was pointless, seeing him use hidden darkness attack or whatever it's name was, was a good moment. I love that shit.
- Well organized. I mean, we all know they are trying to advance the storyline as little per episode and they did a good job of taking the most interesting part(kankouro fight) and drawing it(a very short battle) out over an entire episode to keep us interested.
- Kankouro poisoned, the only one left standing is temari. Interesting to see how she responds once she understands the situation.
- the "siblings". I love when kishimoto expands on other countries' histories so on so forth and thats what it was all about. He very easily could've excluded them but he found a role and now we get to find out about the Sand country, plus some interesting character connections (Sasori--> old woman).
- Naruto's speech was killer. That had what we have been missing(emotion) up till now in it.
- Animation was generally good. The bird keeper looked really outof porportion at one point but that's barely something worth complaining about. The parts that mattered the most were well done.
- I love flashbacks to older episodes... although the first thing I find myself doing is comparing the animation, haha, but still its cool

Cons:
- Drawing things out makes for 45 minutes when very little actually happens. Which makes for bad dialogue (the poison!) or the extended Itachi chat. Although necessary to bring everyone up to speed, it was a liitle drawn out.
- Animation although improving, still has some to be desired. Its good that it's improving but this isn't a grade 10 basketball team. Animators are paid to do a high quality job.. oh well, as long as the characters look decent its not that bad
- Kankouro loses. Hah although necessary for story development, I really wanted him to win
- Just generally a long episode where little happened except kankouro's fight. Just makes it non-exciting to watch largely.

Things to Consider:
- When does team kakashi get to see some serious action?
- kankouro's fate?
- Jaraiya's warning to Naruto.

Me:
- to hidden ninja: we compare naruto and bleach for a reason. Generally, we don't compare storylines and characters because as you said, they are different animes with different stories, it isn't reasonable to compare them on that ground. If you like the characters/story of one more thats fine but you can't use that as a winning argument. But what we do is compare quality of production.

Its worth comparing qualities because they are both the same genre: Once a week Anime-action shows. Right now bleach is setting the standard and naruto is failing to meet it. As I've said before, you are paid to animate, not learn. Learning is for school. This is their job. They should be expected to at least match the quality of bleach, especially if they are trying to compete for ratings.

- General: The dialogue at points was bad, but what do you expect? They have a goal to meet. This goal is drawing out this part of the storyline for 45 minutes. Unfortunately, the best way to do this, and LOTS of anime does this, is by adding filler dialogue. That often means repeating some things or stating the obvious. Thats just an anime technique, worth laughing over, not worth making a big deal on tho.
- Although the poison part was really dumb.

- Gotta love the: Not in the manga"" or... "this was done differenty!!" or "manga is so much better!" arguments. I guess some things will never change, haha

I have to agree, animation seen in Naruto so far hasn't really reached my expectations. Its not exactly terrible, imo the animation here is on an average level but I expected to see more fluidity and something that is comparable to previous eps seen in the Gaara vs Lee fight, or Naruto vs Sasuke (waterfall) fight. Over a year of fillers I was hoping that the main story arc would have at least some top notch animation as a way of saying sorry for the wait guys. But these Shippuuden eps doesn't seem to keep me going and quite frankly it does get a little bit boring. If it wasn't for the plot (which I think is the greatest) I would probably have switched to another anime instead of watching this.

I'm currently reading the manga for both Naruto and Bleach and, even though I know whats coming up for both animes, I have to say Bleach is intriguing me more with its awesome animations. And its true what Steve says, animators are not paid to learn, they're paid to animate. They should dedicate their time and effort in creating superb animations in a successful anime series. Its not a matter of 'it gets better halfway through the season', I'm sure it will but the point is animators need to set a high standard for themselves in every fight sequences they create.

I love the way the opening is... The stretchy characters running through the darkness, it sets the tone that this isnt a game anymore, its the real thing. It also shows that the story has matured, not just the characters.

I honestly don't remember Naruto episodes being as well animated as the last few Bleach episodes. Especially this weeks episode of Bleach, one of the fights was at the level of something you'd see in a highly detailed anime movie. For some reason the studio isn't putting enough animation budget behind Naruto.

One thing to consider is that this is within a couple weeks of a new season of anime in Japan. It might be that the studio that does Naruto is pumping out lots of other animes and just doesn't have the money to focus on Naruto.

Just watched this episode.
Sasori was too cool.
Kankurou vs Sasori fight was done pretty well to keep enough action.
But the thing is I now notice how the hell the episodes are going so slow. It is because whenever they show someone walk or something they expand those scenes a little more. Instead of that guy showing up and walking to the 2 old people in the end taking so long they could have made it shorter by putting in footstep sounds and then showing the 2 old people. Is this their new way instead of doing fillers? It is better than showing fillers IMO though.
And it wasn't just this part, I found a lot of parts in the episode that could have been shorter and still be understandable. It is pretty obvious too- we aren't that stupid to know someone is walking just by hearing footsteps making the scene about 2 seconds :p

There are other streaming sites and if you can stream it you can download it. You don't need to keep the episode. I generally delete or move the episode after watching.

Definitely a lack of fine details. Still looks like it was drawn in the fillers. Although some scenes they have put a lot into them, the general drawings seem to be pretty quickly made. Even looking at your sig picture. Look at all the details on Kakashis face. It seems very cartoonish lately. Although there were times it was like that in the old series.

ps: the baki face thing from the last episode was stylish.. no bad animation. You should watch a larger variety of animes cause they tend to use that from time to time for serious/joke scenes.

episode 8 was not that bad, the fight between sasori and kankurou was nothing special, but decent...but yeah, the animation was horrible...the episode was made by the same guy who made episode 220....lol
episode 9 was really good...the animation was good, really good(the scene with chiyo and the other old guy was so clean and solid...really good...it reminded me of sasuke arc in terms of animation)..
the pace was normal, for shippuuden, and the soundtrack was good, as always...

if you do read the manga, u are a wierd ass person for saying something like this.

some things are SUPPOSED to be animated, like footsteps, jumping through trees, handsigns, and shit like that, whoever considers things like that filler need to be shot on site. some filler is okay, like konohamaru's team beginning the first episode, and naruto's room being dusty as hell.

other things are just unnecessary, like showing repeated scenes during a fight, or like the last 2 minutes before a commercial break being replayed after the commercial break. those are goddamn shortcuts that naruto is getting notorious for. not to mention the other straight up filler content!

i say using manga only content for descriptions and such, but filling in fights with quality, non-repetetive fillerstuff would be the best thing to do. like neji's 128 palms was actually quite entertaining, same with naruto getting piledriven, and making the clone chain to whip sasuke to the mountain. stuff like that isnt only tolerable, but actually entertaining.

It isn't filler folks...it is more additions to the manga. As steve has mentioned additions always existed even before the fillers. I remember how people were complaining about the length of some flashbacks prior to the 2 year worth of fillers. Filler content is almost 99% unrelated to manga. The current episodes are based on manga and they usually add details to lengthen the manga. Dependent how they do this, it can be good additions or bad additions. Earlier shippuuden episodes seems like it fell on the bad side. The current episode I liked. Hopefully they don't revert back to crappy additions.

actually, they are pretty close to a 1/1 ratio, just a little over actually. some eps just take less than 1 ep, while others take more than 1 ep. we are about 90-95 chapters ahead in the manga, so i wouldnt mind a little splurging here and there.
if anything, the 1 week breaks followed by a 1 hr special(more like 45min) gets me somewhat miffed. 1 hr is 2 episodes, yet they only cover 1 or 1.5 chapters in those episodes. that's pretty annoying, but i'll be able to live with it in the next few episodes, cause things are gonna get much, much better.

NNT has a point though, if the filler content was better quality, then quantity wouldnt matter as much, so there would be less complaining from more moderate manga readers like myself. i was really expecting, dare i say hoping, that there would be flashbacks to events in the time skip, like narutofan's list.

Actually in earlier shippuuden episodes...what was most disappointing was extending the fight scenes too much. I generally agree with this. Still, even if it isn't an addition to a fight scene there can be well made flashbacks and well made conversations that adds to character development for example. As I said before, if the additions are high quality, then people can want more of it! It wouldn't matter at all . ;)

I already mentioned an example of great additions that can be done to anime...FMA. If it is done right then you won't have people complaining about it. Lot of people rate FMA as their favorite anime of all time. My #2 overall. ;)

Hey now you made me want to watch dbz. I don't know much but I really like it. And now I cant watch it because of youtube. Well the fillers in the episode arn't bad 8 chapter in 9 episodes is great that is smart.:cool:

the "idea" of filler content in episodes isnt bad, but the actual filler content in most shippuden episodes sucked.

me and nnt had a discussion that it would be good to have well thought out filler content that would actually be enjoyable. that just wasnt the case so far. but in the manga, this re-introduction/gaara part was rather uninteresting when compared to what's coming up.

another thing we can say is that even bad filler is acceptable(in small doses) when the actual storyline is interesting. and the next 10-20 episodes are gonna be very interesting!

people complain when something isnt as good as expected, "why do you watch it?" is a stupid question IMO.

and youtube does carry dbz, i was looking at gohan vs cell's entire episode a couple of hrs ago to see if it would work. it did.
besides that, i would say www.alluc.org
its free, it gives anime, brand new movies, and all kinds of good shit. DBZ is def be on there. quality is okay/meh though!

Because weve seen the beginning, were in the middle(?) of the storyline, weve been watching since it came out and we all are interested on whats coming up....

If this is a brand new anime I would stop watching. But it aint, it was awesome at the beginning, now it sucked. Its way too late to quit watching after you got hooked into it.
