Ive been trying to download this anime for quite some time using kazaa but all the users who have it seem to have a bandwith of one so i can never get a connection, I've also tried bitorrent but the files are too huge even for my dsl. If any of you know a good site to directly downloaded or a good program please post it.

Off-topic: Is it prohibitted to post where you can download it from :?:

Valindra
02-10-2004, 09:05 PM
No it's not.
But since it's an FTP site, when a lot of people start clicking it at the same time, you may not be able to load the page at all.
It happend to me before in other forums that somebody gave his ftp link and when I clicked on it I was told after about 5 minutes that I had a timeout because to many users tried to access the site at the same time.

But, I can send it to you too if you want it. ^^

Here what this anime is all about:

(taken from AnimeNfo)
Shindoh Hikaru, a 6th grader, finds an old go table in the attic of his grandfather's house. He sees some blood stains on the go table, and tries to wipe it off... when a ghost dressed in Heian period clothes pops out, and takes over his body.

The ghost happens to be Fujiwara no Sai, a member of the court during the Heian period. Sai was one of the two men who was assigned as the go tutor to the emperor. The other tutor was envious of Sai, and challenged him to a go match -- whoever wins gets to stay as the court's go master. Sai's opponent cheats during the match, and before Sai could say anything about it, the opponent accused Sai of cheating. Sai was banished from the court, and because of regret and anger, he committed suicide. But as with all unrepented souls, Sai was unable to leave the material world... until he is able to master go, and get one step closer to "kami no itte," or god's hand.

sounds kinda yu-gi-oh-ish to me.

Dweezil
02-17-2004, 09:40 PM
its not like yu-gi-oh at all actually

Valindra
02-17-2004, 10:49 PM
Defenetly no Yu-Gi-Oh.
There is no fighting involved ( apart from the Go matches) and no mystical creatures.
It's more like a real life story with a ghost which invades Hikaru's mind.
I liked it because it was so differnt.

Valindra
02-18-2004, 11:47 PM

It sure gave the world of Go a boost.

didnt Akira Bears his Fangs just come out in Shonen Jump?

Drizzt
02-19-2004, 10:24 PM
I just finished the series and man that was intense.
The fights are based on real startegies used by the pros of Korea, China and Japan so you could learn a bit from watching the anime.
Ive been playing Go for a while but im not that good cause I dont pratice alot,oh and thompskinsbrian if you ever get the IGNS panda program that allows you to play Go online I'll be on Sung.

Valindra
02-20-2004, 12:00 PM
You can also play Go online with Yahoo and MSN.
I haven't tried playing on MSN yet, but I have played a match against thompskinsbrian on Yahoo and lost
thompskinsbrian, I still want my prisoners back ;)

Yea..HNG is pretty intense and you can learn a lot about the game.
Have you also watched the 2004 New Years Special?

It's great to see how Hikaru and the rest mature all through the anime, I think it starts when Hikaru and Akira are 12 and the series ends when they are 14, the special takes place 2 years later when they are 16.

Aosagi
02-21-2004, 01:09 AM
what I want to know is how many episodes there are. Because I watched 75 and thought that was all there were but I keep hearing and seeing lists of like 90 episodes. And even if you include all the specials thats still not 90 episodes?

So for those of you have watched it who is your favorite character? Who didn't you like?

Drizzt
02-21-2004, 02:24 AM
There are 76 eps thats the original 75 plus the new years special.
You probably saw 90 because they released dvds with Umezawas Go sessions.

i want to plaay go again online BUT, i am having computer problems and cant seem to install the java update so i can play on any of these. so instead while i am at work i just go through a shiet load of go problems. and now i am beginning to have dreams about go. how to attack people PROPERLY and make territories with out makiong them directly. i also finally understand what thickness means AND i am learning the best starting places. i usually mess up with the opening and attacks. who every plays me next(blue) be prepared cause my attacks are gonna be a lot better and more organized and my openings wont be so "noobish"(for lack of a better word)

if you havent seen this web site yet and you like go check this out

http://goproblems.com.

if you get a chance watch a pro game. they have some of 8 and 7 dan players. that are freakin weird looking

and yes akira bears his fangs came out in shonen jump.

Say, how strong are you people? I've been playing since last summer, and I'm 8k on KGS :)

Valindra
02-28-2004, 11:56 AM
I'm weak..very very weak...no challange or anybody ~_~
I will never become a pro at Go..alone for the fact that I just don't have the possibility to concentrate on a game.
I constandly have somebody stood behind me asking questions and wanting to talk while I'm in the middle of a game.

*cry's a river*

Pimple
02-28-2004, 12:07 PM
lol, that can be quite annoying during a game :o

It's nice that so many ppl are willing to review and give teaching games. I'd probably be below 30k if it wasn't for that :X

I lost a few and win once because of that person's mistake...
I am a hundred kyu LOLz, and aiming for 100 Dan - to master the divine move

Anyway, I think Hikaru no Go is as good as naruto. It has good storyline, good music, good graphics, and some sort of comedic look within (SAI)...

thompkinsbrian
03-15-2004, 05:29 AM
no such thing as 100 dan. dpending on what country you play in the highest can range from 5-7 dan. and how can you be 100 kyu. if you drop a stone on the board you are higher ranked then that. a beginner is like 30. if you have never played the game before then you are 50kyu

well I love the manga for HNG, but I recently started to play go about 2 weeks ago. so I was wondering if anyone could teach me, because I've read the books that I was able to find (1) and I watched a video on it but i still can never win a single game. I had the fortunate mistake of having some one be really stupid and I won because of their mistake but thats it. so if anyone is willing to teah me I would love to learn to play better.

I agree with Blue you just have to look around and you will find them.
One question tho...over 100 episodes?
I have 75 and several specials, but I don't think I manage to go over 80 including the specials...are there any other episodes out there I may be missing?? *_*

 i think an anime like dat aint kool :P becuz chess is boring to me maby not to others

It is NOT BORING. You would think it is, but it is not like Yu-Gi-Oh where it is Play-by-Play, it kinda shows begining, mid game, and end game. It is more about the story than the game itself!

I play Go by the way, and as most will tell you, it takes a lifetime, or even more, to play : ) Young PPL always suck. Only old folks are good...

Pimple

Young PPL always suck. Only old folks are good...

Try telling that to professional teenage go players, lol :P

I've seen one 17 year old one, but I'm sure there are others below that age. (Well, geeks exist)[/b]

thompkinsbrian
06-04-2004, 06:39 AM
there are 13 year old pros. most pros from what i heard make it several years before 18 usually 14-17 is when people go pro. while some old people are good there arent many old people that can beat these kids unless they are pros themselves

Valindra
06-22-2004, 05:48 AM
Yep, I have to agree with Brian on this one.
Those kids have been learning Go ever since they were little and it's simply amazing.

Once I got my head sorted out and finally am able to move on with my life, I'm going to get back into the game again.
I haven't played for ages and start to miss the game, but I just can't concentrate right now.
