I really liked this episode, though I've never seen such bad quality from Dattebayo.

I thought that Deidara would use that stuff he eats with his hands and make his arm unbreakable, but it seemed like he wanted to lose it. He didn't even react damn it.

- animation was really kicked up a notch
- sand was wicked
- diedra is really cool, I like watching him fight alot
- Gaara also seems to be stronger, his techniques have huge mass.
- cue flashback to naruto gaara fight. Unlike fillers, I actually enjoy watching characters like gaara getting changed because of naruto
- sand village responds to support their kazekage
- diedra's exploding birds are just so good
- diedra MINUS one arm! that was wicked, and they even animated in some blood gobs for us.
- get some cool insight on how gaara's techniques work too.
- naruto and sakura on a date
- new team kakashi is sick, shit's going to get ballin
- most of the attention put on gaara. If only filler writers had figured out that having other characters do things was ok.

Cons:
- had to wait 2 weeks for it. Haveto wait 2 weeks for the conclusion.
- when all the sandnin were on the move they went cheap on character models but whatever, its not a big deal
- sand village--- DESTROYED?

Things to Consider:
- Sand village just got blown up.
- 2 weeks till next ep... will we see consistent levels of animation?
- things are starting to get good... that felt like watching naruto in the days of old. Good noise.

Anyways towards the actual episode.. EXCELLENT, gaara has really changed.. and the best part is that he can still keep that evil stare. His chakra must be of the scales now.. i hope he comes out winner in the end!

Awesome episode, just can't wait for the next one. Making us wait a month for three episodes what is this? Hope they get the animation working, though it was better in this episode than the previous ones. The character design sucked at some parts. For Example: When the sand shinobi's wondered where Gaara was and Kankurou told them that he was in the huge sand ball. Look at the guys expression it looks like the one to the left is about to burst in laughter.

I still liked the episode though.

I haven't recently put my ear to a tanuki, but I don't believe I've noticed that sound effect in the manga. My guess is it's a coincidence.

I like when Naruto told Kakashi he only read the first 10 pages of the book. Naruto didn't even know the ending, Kakashi got pwned. Is there something wrong with my sight or did Sakura agree to go on a date with Naruto. Gaara vs Deidara is a pretty good fight. I like how Deidara was smiling when his arm got ripped off. This episode ended with a blast, literally. I can't wait to see how it ends. It looks like we also get to see Kankuro vs Sasori.

Edit: And I also can't wait to see Kakashi's unbelievable new technique.

This episode was tight. Great variety of animation... flashing from scene to scene, vibrating animation when Gaaras sand was bashing around and stuff. Much better than that last episode. The explosion at the end was wicked. I figured Gaara would save the village or it'd explode a little smaller and it'd stop there... but the explosion was pretty darn huge. I imagine we'll see that Gaara used his sand and stopped it from below. Still it'd be cooler if part of the village got wiped out. Make things a little more badass.

gaara's fights are always crappier looking than others in naruto. its been that way since the chunin exams. anime quiality should start getting back to how it was in shippuden episode 1. that was the best i've seen in naruto!

i don't think so, just look how quickly jiraiya, oro, tsunade, the third, naruto, kakashi, all summon creatures. it just takes an extra second at the beginning of a fight. almost like a preparation, which most of the time both fighters take anyhow.

Unless Regina works for the production company or has deep ties with someone else who does, I have a strange feeling that the date at the end of the anime is correct. There's always the possibility that a two week wait was the original plan, buit they found that they could finish the one hour special ahead of schedule.....things change!

Summoning puppets wouldn't take long at all. They are just tools like Tenten which her scrolls to summon weapons. Maybe he's grown up from the silly puppet switch into more combat stuff. 3 puppets working together would probably be pretty offensive and strong compared to what he used before. One puppet to force the enemy into the other puppet was cool once but it happening again would be pretty boring. Hopefully they kick butt and don't rely on tricks.

You can cleary see that it says 3 which means march and 29 which is pretty obvious what it means. And here is an extremely bad google translation:

How did he lose it in the manga, again? I don't remember the Gaara fight very well.

His bird flew out of the sabaku rou, yet got caught basically the same way and exploded, deidara flew out but some of the sand was still on his arm, and Gaara crushed it. Then Diedara got another bird and flew on it.

In the anime he gets out of the Sabaku Rou without injury and Gaara just catches him later after a few minutes of zooming around.

Hell, the Hokage vs. Orochimaru thing was long, but at least it was only really long because it was one of 3 or so storylines being watched at once. Most of that fight, there was Hokage, there was Naruto/Sakura, there was Sasuke, and a little of the village in general. When Naruto caught up to Sasuke, that was one less division, but it was still basically 3 things to watch in one episode for that section of the Naruto timeline.

Would you rather something like DBZ, where one fight is watched for 95% of each episode, and it still somehow takes 50 episodes? I'll take Hokage vs. Orochimaru length fights for less than a third of each episode over that any day...

I completely agree with you.I don't understand why all see that shippuuden is so great and all,because it isn't.The fact that the storyline is good doesn't make the animation good.If Gaara says emotional stuff about Naruto and his dream,i get it,it's awesome in some ways,but thats only because of the manga and Kishimoto.

LMAO nice closing sentence:) it is moving kinda slowly paced, but then again, its only a couple of episodes into the new season, give it time. as the storyline hits more climaxes, twists, and turns, you'll pay less attention to the animation quality and more to the storyline.
the quality is about the same as the older episodes, but the first couple of shippuden episods really spoiled us with their animation quality. those were the best i've seen in anime for a long time.

thats what i meant, when the story gets really rolling, people would still LOVE the anime, even if it had quality as poor as DBZ was. the problem is that they are moving slowl.

and i agree with u and hidden, the animators havent really gotten back on track since the first 2 episodes, and now they are taking a week off, they are still adjusting to making non fillers again most likely. give them a break for now, but when shippuden episodes 10+ come, i expect better quality!

Yea its been confirmed by me that, the animators rushed to release shippuden, they are taking a few weeks off to make up for things. Although ep1 took about 1 year to do. ep 2 and so on was done in a week, thats why there is a slight drop in quality.

Akatsuki are extremely high level ninja who SHOULD have high pain resistance so it doesent effect them in battle.

sasori is defenently stronger than deidara, because from what i saw deidara is nothing without that damn bird. all he do is fly around to avoid gaara attack. so without that bird of his, he is dead within 5 mins with gaara.

Exactly. In any other anime people grimace at the pain and move on. If there isn't some reasoning behind why it doesn't hurt him then that's just lame. I didn't notice the blood. I guess it's not clay :P That's pretty stupid in my opinion.

But this fight isn't over...to say that deidara is greater than gaara at this point has no foundation or justification, as deidara is is missing an arm, and gaara isn't injured at all. If this fight went to teh scorecards at this point gaara has won every round hands down.

That's definately the idea that he is using, it's obvious, he sees all the people ready to fight him spread out, knows Gaara's love for the village, and wants to use it against him. It's definately not about destroying the village or taking Gaara out with his strongest attack. One stealth type left as well, is what he said, right?

flying on a big bird is an ability? that is like u sitting in an airplane and enjoy the ride to where it will take u. gaara and his sand is different he is actually CONTROL the sand to do his bidding. Actually, it is. He creates the bird by having his hand eat clay and infusing it with his chakra, then having his hands spit it out. The bird is his creation, and his chakra controls it.

I actually like the current pace that they are setting, hope they don't start getting too much faster (a little faster is fine). I don't mind the amount of filler that they have currently.

You have no argument. Thats like saying dodging is an attack. Gaara is very defensive yet has a huge offense at the same time, that's why he's flying around so much. That's how he fights, it's the same as Gaara's sand really.

Two: Gaara's defense is the same thing, except he doesn't have to control his 'absolute defense' sand to do it for him, it does it automatically. So, by your argument, Gaara's defense is lame, but Deidara's actually isn't.

But you see, the thing is, he's not running away. He's dodging attacks, running away would be trying to avoid the fight altogether. Also, the thing is, with Gaara's sand, you either dodge it, or you die because blocking it isn't the easiest thing to do (the sand will just grab you and destroy whatever body part you blocked with), and he needs to dodge the attacks so he can buy time to make his attacks from clay, too.

But the thing is, it is an ability. He controls the bird with his chakra, meaning that he tells the bird when to dodge. Saying that this isn't an ability is like saying dodging isn't an ability.

Also, I agree that on a ground fight, he would have been dead very quickly. On the other hand, I'm fairly certain someone like, say, Kakashi would be terrible at aerial fights, does that mean he's terrible? No, it just means that Deidara's style involves aerial fights, and Kakashi's doesn't. Different style doesn't mean worthless.
